Before Your First Appointment
To ensure a productive first visit, please keep the following in mind.
Arrive 15 minutes early
Give yourself time to complete check-in without feeling rushed.
Bring your insurance card
Along with any referral information your insurer or physician has provided.
Bring a list of your current medications
Names and doses, including anything prescribed by another physician.
Bring your medical history
Relevant records, previous evaluations, or discharge summaries if you have them.
In an emergency
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Appointments and Cancellations
By Appointment Only
Dr. Patel sees patients by appointment only, in-office at 1629 K St. NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20006, and by secure telemedicine for residents of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Florida. The office is a short walk from Farragut North Metro.
24 Hours Notice for Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give the office at least 24 hours notice.
Insurance and Payment
Insurance
The practice accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United HealthCare/Optum and Aetna. Please verify your coverage before your appointment — some insurance may cover some types of illness, such as depression, bipolar and mood disorders, but not other types of issues.
